Charlie Taylor[i] has recently encouraged the development of a school led education system.[ii] He joins a growing list of others who advocate this means of school improvement including David Hargreaves.[iii] Using School Direct for training teachers, high quality leadership development and school to school support are all promoted as the means for school led improvement. The latter of course was also endorsed in The Importance of Teaching (DfE, White Paper 2010). Fine in principle but does it actually work?
